In a time when anyone who has ever brushed shoulders with or bummed a stick of gum off any Odd Future member is suddenly slanging Youtubes and signing deals, occasional collaborator Vince Staples, he of the now infamous you’re Fantasia and the body bag’s a fucking book kicker on Earl Sweatshirt’s “epaR,” has remained oddly enigmatic. With a title that induces simultaneous ROFLs and facepalms, “Martin Ruger King” is the rare Vince solo track, a good kid gone bad slow burner cut to a beat from fellow LAlien (and Tumblr favorite) Michael Ozowuru.
Vince is currently preparing a full length with OF’s unsung third production arm the Super 3. He also once described himself as “a young Suga Free” on Twitter, which is one of the best possible ways for a rapper to describe himself. Perhaps second only to “the actual, old Suga Free.”
